5 Tips for Engaging Experts with Online Video

In order to get the word out about your company, there is no better way to do that than to have some of the best known experts talk to you using online video. Imagine, what if a very popular and well-known expert said you and your company are great on a video?

In my upcoming session on video marketing at LEARN, the virtual event for digital marketing (November 11-22, 2013), I will reveal insider tips and secrets for scoring interviews with the top leaders in your field, and show you how you can use these interviews to your advantage.

To give you a sneak peek of what you can expect from my session, here are 5 fundamentals to booking and using top experts using online video:

1. Be utterly fearless

This is one of the most important factors. Have you ever done video before? Probably not. But then there was a time when I did my very first show too.  You simple have to forge ahead and not be intimidated.

2. Learn all the time

Keep in mind that you’ll have lots to learn. How do you add a Call to Action? How do you syndicate a show? I’ve been doing this for over two years, and I’m still learning.

3. Brainstorm ways to improve

One thing you will quickly learn as you get into this, is that there are many opportunities to improve. You need to find quiet time to think and reflect on ways to improve your videos.

4. Find and use mentors

There’s no way I could have done what I did without the help of some very smart people. Find champions for what you are doing and let them help you.

Example: On Marketing Made Simple TV we recruited a Board of Advisors to help us.

5. No wine before its time

No matter how hard you work or how much time you put in, it takes time to build an audience. Don’t rush it. Just keep publishing and promoting and over time, it will grow and grow and grow. Be patient.

Example: Here is an Interview I did with Jay Baer

In addition to Jay, Marketing Made Simple TV has booked some of the top experts out there today, such as:
  1. Beth Comstock, Chief Marketing Officer of General Electric
  2. Daniel Pink, New York Times best-selling author
  3. Guy Kawasaki, author who has over 1.3 million Twitter followers
  4. Jeffrey Hayzlett, Celebrity CMO, Cowboy, and TV show host
